My first few weeks at CSUN

After my first three weeks of college, I learned so much about what the college life truly is. I never knew what an amazing experience it would be for me. Here is what I wrote three weeks in:

I realized something so important and crazy being in college for literally three weeks. First of all, in college, everyone is an adult and we are basically all on our own whether we like it or not. Driving into B3 parking lot Monday morning on the first week of school, I teared up sitting in the car and looking at all of these students walking around campus. I wasn't in high school anymore. All of these people are legit adults who are here to take school seriously. They are all here because they have dedicated their time, money, and life to coming here and to earn a degree to lead them to a greater and more extravagant future.

There is this new found sense of independence. Being in high school, people are immature, selfish, ungrateful, rude, fake, and careless. Don't get me wrong, it's fun and good while it lasts, but once you're out of there, and you begin a new path, it's a really crazy feeling. It feels like I finally found where I was destined to be all my life.

Being at CSUN for three weeks and involving myself in all of the amazing activities, clubs, and organizations they have on campus, I immediately felt like I belonged. I made so many new friends the first week of school because, believe it or not, making friends in college is WAY easier than in high school. In high school, if you wanted to be friends with someone, you had to be part of their "clique" or "fit in" with their social status. There were so many stereotypical groups in high school that are literally thrown away and forgotten about in college. It's easy to make new friends and be yourself at CSUN. People are friendly, open minded, and well aware that being a freshman is not always easy.

These first three weeks have been more than I could ask for and I'm eternally grateful that I made the right choice. I truly don't think I would feel as comfortable if I went anywhere else. I don't know if it's because I have some of my best friends by my side or if it's the fact that making new memories is going to be so amazing. I am so so so grateful to have met some amazing people and I am so excited to learn more about the college life.
